The Department of Transportation (CalTrans), City, County, Moorefield Construction and Provost & Pritchard Consulting Group are pleased to announced final completion of the City of Fresno’s State Route 99 Herndon Avenue Interchange Improvement Project.  Caltrans role was oversight on this City of Fresno project allowing the agency to ensure quality assurance and timely delivery of this project.

This project was initiated due to the development of the newest shopping Center, the Marketplace at El Paseo, located in northwest Fresno on Herndon Avenue just east of Highway 99.  Higher projected traffic volumes due to this new development constituted the need for these improvements.  Fresno’s newest shopping center is a welcome addition to residents and will provide economic growth to the area.

As a result of these improvements, motorists are now enjoying new safety features such as new traffic signal lights west of State Route 99, southbound on-ramp to State Route 99 ramp metering system, turn lanes, new pavement, drainage and striping.

Caltrans and its partners would like to thank the residents, businesses and commuters for their patience during the construction of this improvement project.
